Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan's Badrinath Ki Dulhania has already broken box office records. After raking in Rs 12.08 crore on Monday, the film became the highest first Monday grosser of 2017, overtaking Shah Rukh Khan's Raees. Having crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in the first four days of its release, the film has reportedly made Rs 7.15 crore on Tuesday.
Even though trade analysts were skeptical about the box office performance of a film which released around the time of exams, the long Holi weekend ensured that the film has already made profits. Badrinath Ki Dulhania was reportedly made at a budget of around Rs 50 crore, including cost of production as well as advertisements and promotions.

Produced under Karan Johar 's Dharma Productions banner, 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' marks Varun and Alia's third film together after their hugely successful ' 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania' and 'Student Of The Year'.
'Badrinath Ki Duhania' sees Varun playing a small-town boy Badri who falls in love with Alia's character Vaidehi. While he hopes to tie the knot with Vaidehi, the feisty girl has dreams and aspirations of her own - marriage does not figure in her list. Based in Kota and Jhansi, the movie deals with the evils of a regressive society in the north Indian hinterland, and touches upon the subjects of dowry and patriarchy.
