Mobile manufacturing company OPPO today became the new sponsor of the Indian cricket team, replacing broadcasting giants Star India.
star india had made it clear that it would not seek a renewal of its sponsership deal, which was to end next month.
the company had cited differnce with the board on the commitment sought from them as the reason for its decision .
Star india took over as star indian cricket team sponsor in 2013 from sahara which was ineligeble by the board .
Oppo's association with the team will start from next month and will last for five years.
This is not Oppo's first foray into Indian cricket. They were the title sponsors of the Champions League T20 in 2014 and were one of the associate sponsors during the 2016 edition of the Indian Premier League.
